Painting Frogs

Its been a while since I posted here. I have been so busy doing craft, I haven't had alot of time for my art. My most recent is this oil painting on canvas I did from a photograph I found online. I can't remember exactly where. This painting is pretty small. Its only 150 x 210. I really like the way it turned out considering that apart from the 4 ATCs I did, this is the only other oil painting I've done and so far, its the largest, even thought its small!.

Oil ATC 2. Posted by Picasa
This is my first try with oils paints. I decided to make some ATCs using oils. I found the paint too thick but have since found out I need to add some linseed oil to it. These are ok but I'm sure I can do better and Will do some more experimenting on ATCs before I move on to a full size painting. Posted by Picasa
This is my second Pencil drawing and the photo I drew it from. I can see that it need more dark colours in the ears. I need to learn to see the colours better. Its not too bad, It looks like Molly anyway. Posted by Picasa

This is my first colour pencil reproduction of a painting. I don't know who painted the original but My copy is about 12" x 12". It's not exactly the same. I found it hard to get the same depth of colour with the pencils as is in the original painting. I guess I could have kept going over and over with the different colours to get the shades darker but then I wouldn't have time to move on to my next project.!! I think this is a good try for a first largescale drawing. Posted by Picasa

This is a display of some Frog themed ATCs I have done in recent weeks. Some are watercolours and others are done using Sharpie textas. The sharpies are great because they are really quick but you just can't get the same kind of detail as you can get with other mediums. Watercolours are nice but a little unpredictable. I love to use them though. Colour pencils are great because you get colour, control and detail. I don't think any of these are pencil..No none. The other one on this blog is though and has lovely colour. Posted by Hello

This is a charcoal sketch I did the other night. When I first tried charcoal, I didn't like it at all. I now love it. I have done a few sketches with the charcoal and they always turn out nice. I like the look and the simplicity of the lines I use with charcoal and the drawings just seem to flow onto the page. Posted by Hello

Here is one of my very first drawings. Looking for something to draw can sometimes be a challenge in itself at this early stage. I sat the boot on the table in front of me and drew. I like it alot. I took alot of time to do it and the end result is worth the effort. It makes me think I can draw anything if I put my mind to it. Posted by Hello

First day back at RMH since october 2004. So first go at drawing anything from here. There is just as much to draw here as there is at Footscray. Not much!! Here I have drawn a pencil sketch of an office chair and a little fluffy dog next to a shifter. The doggy came with the McDonalds lunch one of the other guys bought. I coloured these drawings with water colour when I got home. Click on the image to enlarge. Posted by Hello
This is a bug study I did of a poor little dead bug I found in the workshop at work. I liked the look of it and so quickly drew a few sketches. I coloured it when i got home. I love this page. Posted by Hello
Another graphite sketch, I drew this drawing using a "How to draw animals" book. I love the way it came out. Posted by Hello
This is a Picture of Ted. Ted lays on the grass and watches out to sea all day long, waiting for his master to come home from fishing. Here he is...waiting...watching...ever vigilant. He is a very old and loyal dog. Posted by Hello
This is a quick pencil sketch I did while the guys were catching some baby fish for bait. Visiting Mallacoota, a small fishing town on the eastern coast of Victoria, Australia, to do a spot of fishing. Well Lindsay was there to fish, I was there to draw, paint, and relax. I sat on the rocks further up the beach, drew and coloured on site. I really enjoyed the whole experience and wish I could do it much more often so that I could get better at it. I actually like the childlike feel of this drawing. Posted by Hello

This is one of my first drawing since I started drawing in November 2004. I decided to draw something every day from January 2005 to improve my skills. There is not much to see where I work though and this power drill was just sitting there...begging..! So I drew it. It must have been on a day when the bosses were off because as you can clearly see, I have taken my time with this one. Its just graphite (2B) on a small visual diary. Easy size to pop into my work bag. Posted by Hello
